ABKA Accreditation

Paws Inn Luxury Pet Hotel is a member of the ABKA (American Boarding and Kennel Association). We have passed the ABKA VFA (Voluntary Facilities Accreditation) Program, only the second kennel in Iowa to do so. It is a stringent 200 point inspection, to make sure our pet hotel is compliant with the "Standards of Excellence" set by the ABKA. This is the only program that allows boarding kennels to demonstrate their commitment to exceptional care in our industry. To submit for VFA certification, we submitted a detailed notebook on our animal care procedures and business policies. An on-site evaluation was done by another VFA certified kennel operator and our state of the art building and all our business practices were inspected. Bobbi Heimbaugh, the owner of Paws Inn, has also taken courses through the ABKA and has now become a CAPCT (Certified Advanced Pet Care Technician), which includes studies about animal behavior, medical emergencies, business practices, financing, animal stress, anatomy, nutrition, vaccines, and handling special needs animals. The next level of study will be to become a CKO (Certified Kennel Operator).
